Team 1 decided to visit 2 poor families in Puchong & Gombak Setia. The journey was tedious thanks to the rain, but the moment we've reached our destination, it was worth it.

Family 1: Puchong
Their family was living in an atap house, where the elderly couple had 3 kids - 1 OKU, 1 in Tanjung Rambutan and their bread winner son (a delivery boy) got into an accident and is not able to provide income for some time. They are now living on the elderly couple picking up recyclable material :( To help out wiht their daily supplies, please contact Said Bin Yom (016 913 4702) @ 5522, Lorong 10, Kampung Baru Seri, Puchong.

Family 2: Gombak Setia
A single mother with a daughter and a grand daughter. Due to her commitment to take care of the kids, she can only work as housekeeping for RM400 a month. When we arrived at her home, she had no electricity and it has gone by for 2 months! Also her rent has not been paid for one year (RM1k) :( If anyone can help with rent, please do!! Contact information will be available soon.

On 14th October 2011, InfoConnect kicked off its second team building themed at “The Discovery Race”. Held in Melaka, teams were made to race against one another, completing road blocks and deciphering clues. As there were countless of funny moments with little hints of drama, teams manage to motivate one another to push their personal strength to a whole new level, making everyone – champions in the end.

In 2010, InfoConnect organized its first teambuilding event in Port Dickson – bringing all of InfoConnect members closer together. With the hot scorching sun, the beach and tiring yet fun activities, we achieved our full objectives of promoting positive departmental relationships and work environment. Now, with a head count that has doubled in value, InfoConnect is organizing its second team building event in Melaka – whereby the activities take a much more fun yet relaxed note.

Titled “Discovery Race 2011”, InfoConnect aims to achieve its team building objectives and along the way discover Melaka, our team members and most importantly, ourselves - and what we have to take it, work it and come out as champions to Discovery Race 2011.

The Secret Christmas Mission

I believe it takes many kinds of people to make this world. Some are clever, some are not while there are the rich and poor, ugly or pretty. Same goes with charity. As I see some might like only kids, while some love helping the elders, I believe .. why not do a charity that no one can judge?

Thus, I have set a "Secret Christmas mission" which is not your usually charity drive. It cannot be judged as we all do not know what it is.

As usual, seeing it was an old folks home, we arrive their with happy face..

Only to only be treated with no response!

The old folks in this home were fun! They were happy and extremely grateful for our visit.

It made us feel in turn really special for being able to be there to celebrate the festive season with them.

GAMES EXPLANATION
--------------------------------
The winning team will be announced on the 31st January 2010 on the way home (in the bus). The team with the most points collected in each game wins the overall game. Winner of a game = 5 points, First runner up = 4 points, Second runner up = 3 points, Last team = 2 points

1) Go-Kart - Puzzle Style
Each team will be given a lane to race. All 9 members must race one lap and obtain a piece of a puzzle. The winner is determined by being the first team to complete the track and puzzle. The second, third and fourth team will receiving lesser points.

2) Sea Water Rafting
Team members are taught to build a raft with bamboo and drums and be able to sail in the sea. The raft can take up to 20 persons. Each team member will be provided with a paddle and also life jacket each. The objective is to retrieve a flag that is place in the middle of the sea and the team that makes it back to shore first is the winner. The second, third and fourth team will receiving lesser points.

3) Bowling
No points will be allocated as this game is a rest and relax game

4) Volleyball
After breakfast, all teams are given a 30 minute tummy rest from breakfast as Jacyln will announce the teams and their point collected. 2 teams with the less points will compete at the first round for 30 minutes (as their 'punishment' for not being as 'hebat' as the other two teams.. hehe >:p) at 9.30 - 10.00 am , the winner will be given 30 minutes rest as the other teams will start Match B. At 10.30 am (sorry no rest for winners for Match B because they are "the best", so need to give "handicap" to Match A winners.. hehe) Match C will start.

The winner will receive 5 points, and the first runner up will receive 4 points, the other two teams before will both receive 3 points.

FAQS:

1) How can I participate?

Kindness Wanted : By donating anything you have that you do not use anymore.
Help Wanted: I need volunteers to help me in the orphanage activities!

2) When is?

Kindness Wanted? : This is run from 30th November till 23rd December
Help Wanted?: To be done in 23rd December - 10am to 1.00 pm

3) Where is?

Kindness Wanted: Please place the toys up in Level 3 Christmas Tree. There will be a huge box where InfoConnect staff could fill in the donations into. If you would want a personalized donation, please ask Jacyln for a gift tag ( a tag which where the donator can write a simple sweet message to the kid that is to receive the present)
Help Wanted: The orphanage is located in No. 139, Jalan Bukit, 43000 Kajang

4) What are the activities in Help Wanted?

The activities that are being done would be fun and games with the orphans such as musical chairs, pass the parcel and other ides that will be submitted by the volunteering team :) We will also be giving lunch to the kids

FAQS:
QUESTION 1: Aiyak, why got wish list one? If I do not buy the same thing how?
ANSWER 1: The wishlist is just a guide for InfoConnect staff to know what to buy if they feel that they seriously do not know what to buy. As some colleagues do not know the other colleagues, this wishlist would be a good guide to understanding what the other would want for Christmas :)

QUESTION 2: Why need to put at Level 3 Christmas Tree?
ANSWER 2: The presents are placed at Level 3 Christmas Tree as there is a lot of extra room and of course when everyone gathers, there is sufficient place for all of us :) but of course, anyone is free to place their presents, whether it is Level 2 or 3, there is no restrictions. But on the 23rd of December, everyone is advised to come up to Level 3 to open their presents.

QUESTION 3: When is the Wishlist & the Lucky Draw for names will start?
ANSWER 3: It will commence on 30th Nov & 1st December. As people draw for the names, they would also write down what they would prefer for Christmas :) Remember, something reasonable!

QUESTION 4: What present is reasonable?
ANSWER 4: Stationery? IKEA Dustbins (the red ones! prettyyy), baby pillows, soft toys, mugs, RM 30 worth of maggie mee, diapers (for those married ones), handphone covers, etc :), you get the drift.

Movie Night with InfoConnect

So, Andy has proposed that InfoConnect Club organize a movie night with our first movie to be "Phobia 2" -

The turn out rate was... the highest ever in InfoConnect club history! (well, i think it was.. 8 people)

and I got email replies from roughly 90% of InfoConnect staff that say that they would like to join next,

while 10% were missing (aka shame shame on you! haha, jk).

QUESTIONS

Q1: Why can't I print it myself?

A1: Like I have said, I have my own personal suppliers which have promised me a better material at a better price.

Q2: How early must I inform you?

A2: A week before. It takes around 3-4 days to print out new business cards.

Q3: Why are there two different designs?

A3: As some colleagues are focused on Docuflo, the management has decided that the best business card for them would only reveal the Docuflo brand/company name

Q4: How would I know which card design I need?

A4: To clarify which card design you would need, you would simply just need to ask your HOD :)

Well I finally received the new T-shirts from the supplier *yay*. Here are some questions that might pop into your mind when you receive your T-shirt:

Q1: “I cannot fit in it!”
A1: No worries. As for the guys, we have extra sizes in M, L, XL and soon XXL and XXXL. As for the girls, the only size left is an XL baby tee.

Q2: “Ee yer, why this type of colour wan?”
A2: Well, the reason is pretty obvious, InfoConnect is all about red!

Q3: “Why does it look like sports wear?”
A3: The management has decided to have a T-shirt which dually, works as sports wear (for our team building/club activities) along with it being a corporate Tshirt.
